Gifted/SAS
Saticoy Elementary School is a School for Advanced Studies (SAS) and is part of the CHOICES brochure. SAS sites are considered to have exemplary Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) programs, and as such, we differentiate the instructional needs of gifted/talented students per current legislation (AB2313).
The instructional program for gifted students is planned and organized as an integrated, differentiated learning experience throughout the regular school day, and may be augmented and supplemented with other differentiated activities related to the core curriculum.
- Teachers of gifted/talented students differentiate the core curriculum through various means, including:
- flexible groupings,
 - acceleration of content,
 - independent study, tiered assignments,
 - interest centers, learning centers,
 - compacting in student’s area of strength, mentorships, adjusting questions, and use of above-grade-level resources.
